Eco-505 Injection System

The Gregson-Clark Eco-505 Injection System allows the lawn care operator to selectively apply a pesticide on demand while making a blanket application of fertilizer. When pulling the second trigger on the injection gun, the pesticide solution is injected instantaneously into the flow of the fertilizer at the gun.

The Eco-505 can easily be incorporated into any existing lawn care spray unit or placed on a new skid sprayer or spray truck.

System Overview

The complete system consists of a 9 or 5-gallon pumping unit, Hannay dual-line hose reel, coaxial hose and dual-trigger gun. The Eco-505 pumping unit features a built-in pressure gauge and flow indicator to ensure accuracy when spraying. The compact, 12-volt PumpTec pump is powered from a 12-gauge wiring harness that connects to the hose reel solenoid. Turning the system on and off is done by a toggle switch located on the pumping unit.

The Eco-505 is different from other injection systems and proportioning systems in that it injects the pesticide at the gun, on demand. The fertilizer solution and the pesticide solution travel separately through the hose and are mixed at the gun. This allows the applicator to apply the pesticide selectively while blanket applying fertilizer. Other proportioning systems inject a concentrate into the flow of fertilizer before the hose reel and do not allow for selective pesticide application.

Calibrating the system is simple and is based on knowing your current application rate in square feet per minute and the desired rate for the product you are using. The system is calibrated to inject at 5 oz per minute. The pesticide being injected will most likely be diluted. Setting the application rate to 5oz per minute is done by adjusting system pressure. When calibrated at 5oz per minute, a gallon of pesticide mix will approximately cover 25,000 SF.

Spray Hose

The Eco-505 system is available in two hose configurations. Our most popular is the coax hose. This is a ½” spray hose with a 3/16 tube ran through the center. Because the pesticide mix is flowing through a 3/16 tube, we recommend using the coax hose on non-viscous product mixtures.

For products with a thicker consistency or individuals who want more control over the system, we recommend using bonded hose. The bonded hose is a 3/8” spray hose bonded to a ¼” spray hose. The bonded hose uses an orifice plate in addition to pressure to calibrate the system. Swapping orifice plates in combination with adjustment of pressure allows for thicker products to be run through the hose. The downside of the bonded hose is that it is heavier and requires more effort to work with.

Both coax and bonded hose are available in 300’ and 400’ rolls.

 Injection Gun

The injection spray gun is a modified Chemlawn gun. The main trigger releases fertilizer while the top trigger allows the applicator to spot spray on demand or hold continuously for a blanket application.

Benefits of Using the Eco-505

Reducing Pesticide Cost — Rather than blanket applying chemicals to control a pest problem that only exists in a portion of the turf area being treated, you can now apply pesticide only where it is needed. Current users are experiencing up to a 50% reduction in pesticide use.

Efficiency — As opposed to currently walking back to the truck for a hand sprayer to make spot treatments, you now have the pesticide available at the spray gun. Since the only effort required to make a spot treatment is to pull a second trigger, you can easily prevent costly call-backs. If you are currently applying a granular fertilizer followed by a weed spray, you could eliminate "double passing" your lawns by making a single liquid application.

Environmental Responsibility — With the Eco-505 you can practice Integrated Pest Management or IPM. You will be applying pesticides only where they are needed. This simple detail can and should be communicated to your customers and community. Differentiate yourself by practicing Integrated Pest Management. Your customers and community will appreciate your environmental consciousness.
